Kayak Attendant: Do you enjoy water sports and hanging out at the lake? Are you looking for a fun and low-stress job for the summer? The Job: Lake McMurtry Friends is looking for a few kayak attendants this 2024 season! Kayak Attendants will be responsible for the rental, upkeep, and storage of all kayak/SUP equipment along with the safety of participants. Kayak attendants run the kayak stand on the East side of the lake in partnership with the bait shop and follow proper procedures and help fill out paperwork when participants are renting or returning kayak and SUP equipment. Adventure Camp Program Director: Expected employment dates: May through August 16, 2024 Camp Dates: Six sessions—June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12, July 15-19 Camp Activities: Classroom learning, swimming, kayaking, hiking, simple survival skills, fishing, plant and animal identification, storytelling, challenge course, and other outdoor skills. Job Summary: The successful candidate will work with the camp director to assist in the creation and implementation of an enriching summer camp program for youth ages 7-12. The program director will help to hire, train, and manage a staff of 4 counselors and ensure that the program is a safe and fun learning environment. This position also involves overseeing the drop-off and pick-up procedures, leading STEAM activities, instructing outdoor recreation, and addressing privacy/personal issues withing the camp population, and help to maintain a social media presence. Description: If you enjoy working outdoors and working with kids, join Lake McMurtry Friends this summer as a Camp Counselor! Counselors are responsible for the care and teaching of campers aged 7-12 in a variety of STEAM and experiential activities related to outdoor recreation. Each counselor will be directly responsible for leading a group of up to 10 participants each week and assisting the Program Director and the other Counselors as necessary to ensure the safe and fun operation of the camp program.
